Daniel Ellsberg says, “Charge me too!” in the Case against Julian Assange

From Democracy Now! yesterday:  Daniel Ellsberg and Cryptome's John Young ask the Justice Department to prosecute them along with Julian Assange.  Ellsberg says that he was given a backup to ALL the files whose possession Julian Assange is now charged with and that he should also be charged with possession of them. Ellsberg also makes the case that any reader of the New York Times of their stories about the WikiLeaks files for which they received Pulitzer prizes is also guilty under the charges against Assange.

John Young says he published ALL the unredacted State Department cables before WikiLeaks (remember their publication was made vulnerable by the password published by David Leigh and Luke Harding of the Guardian.) This was long after Assange had worked with newspapers around the world to redact them, withhold 15,000 files, and publish only redacted versions.  WikiLeaks only published afterwards to alert informants who had already been disclosed and to prevent forgeries.

Note also that according to John Young, the response of the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) to John Young's request to be a co-defendant was, "It’s the U.S. government which is handling this, and they [the CPS] are just a minor party to it"

Here is the transcript of that exchange:

AMY GOODMAN: I wanted to ask you, John Young, the U.K. Crown Prosecution Service responded to your request to be included as a co-defendant. What did they say?

JOHN YOUNG: They said that the Prosecution Service is not the one to take this up, as they said. It’s the U.S. government which is handling this, and they are just a minor party to it. So they basically disavowed responsibility for this vindictive attack on Julian Assange, which I thought was interesting. So they’re actually acting as a handservant to the U.S. government, is what they’re saying.

This response from the Crown Prosecution Service begs the question, "Who has made the illogical decisions delivered by each of the CPS judges in this case?"

Interestingly, Newsweek has picked up this story, "I am Assange!" Daniel Ellsberg, Other Allies Demand US Prosecute Them, Too" which is here:
