⚖️ Statement on Social Justice

As a grassroots peace and justice community organization, Peace Action WI is committed to abolishing nuclear weapons and shutting down nuclear power. We work to end militarism, advance social justice, and end environmental racism in the U.S. and across the world.

  • For everyone: a world without racism, sexism, and classism; full rights for LGBTQ people.
  • Against concentrated power: we denounce multinational, corporate-based systems of inequality.
  • Against the war machine: we oppose the military–industrial complex and the influence of arms manufacturers over government and media.
  • Self-determination: for Native Americans, women, ethnic minorities, and gender-oppressed people.
  • Climate & peace: we link anti-militarism to climate justice and the rights of nature.
  • Human rights: we oppose resource and labor exploitation and support rights movements locally, nationally, and abroad.

🕰️ Our Story

1977

Founded as the Mobilization for Survival, part of a 125-member national network for peace, environment, and justice. We opposed nuclear weapons and power, the arms race, and fought to move military dollars to human needs.

1996

Allied with National Peace Action, from the SANE/Freeze movement, one of the largest grassroots peace and disarmament organizations in the U.S.

1999 – Present

Became Peace Action WI, focusing on community involvement, peace education, and nonviolence to address war, human rights abuses, inequality, and environmental protection.

2026

Peace Action Wisconsin moved into a new office space at Kingo Lutheran Church in Shorewood, continuing our work from an accessible community space near public transit, parking, and shared meeting rooms.
