Anti-War Art Exhibit at Peace Action Center
(Milwaukee)
The anti-war work of Milwaukee artist Tony Busalacchi is on display at the Peace Action Center, 1001 E. Keefe Ave.  Milwaukee for the next couple of months. The multi-media “assemblages” are encased in open wooden boxes and are highly symbolic of the reality and the futility of war. The work is for sale with a percentage going to Peace Action.
Tony also donated to Peace Action a large globe covered with toy soldiers, tanks and helicopters. It was on display at the Sept. 23 anti-war rally, where people gave a donation to Peace Action to remove soldiers from the planet. The process was videotaped with recorded comments.
Tony is a retired art teacher and active with Veterans for Peace. He recently had a large exhibit at Mt. Mary College, which received an excellent review. Stop by and see his provocative work.

New Pan African Committee
Peace Action Wisconsin is initiating a new issue committee on Africa and the Caribbean. The Pan-African Committee will educate itself and the community on current crisis issues in Africa and in the Caribbean and US foreign policy in relation to these issues. In addition to public educational events, we will sponsor lobbying efforts or demonstraions when appropriate.
Last year Peace Action sponsored successful public events on Haiti and Darfur. This led us to recognize the need for more indepth attention to this part of the world by the peace movement. We want to provide an opportunity for this to happen.
Anyone with an interest in this area is welcome. There may be some former Peace Corps volunteers among our membership who served in Africa or people who have studied in Africa or traveled there. Others may come from an academic background in African studies. We feel it is time to come together to share our concerns and act. Call us for the next meeting date.
