Hear Colonel Ann Wright On "Iraq and Afghanistan: Why I Left the Military."
Retired Colonel Ann Wright will speak Monday, May 10th at 7pm in the Wisconsin Room at the UWM Union (2200 E Kenwood Blvd). The event is free and open to the public. Ann Wright is a retired U.S. Army colonel and retired State Department official, most noted for having been one of three State Department officials to publicly resign in direct protest of the invasion of Iraq. Wright served 13 years in active duty in the U.S. Amry, and 16 years in the Army Reserves, rising to the rank of Colonel. In 1987, Wright went to work for the Foreign Service within the U.S. State Department, serving as Deputy Chief of Mission at the U.S. embassies in Afghanistan. In 2009, Wright began to work as a leading member of the steering committee for the Gaza Freedom March.
