Film Showing: Committing Poetry in Times of War
Friday March 19 7:00 pm
Friends Meetinghouse, 3224 N. Gordon Place
Presenter: Eric Sirotkin of Ubuntuworks LLC is the Producer of the award winning poetic documentary, “Committing Poetry in Times of War.” It is a poetic glance at teacher firings, demonstrations, free speech zones and the struggle of a nation at war abroad and with its people. The film, with its “blood pounding” slam poetry, models creativity and the power of voice, and stands for the message that it is creativity that can change the world. Eric Sirotkin, the founder and Director of Ubuntuworks, LLC mixes his experience as a human rights lawyer, film producer, author and peacemaker, to contribute to the movement from the age of separation toward the era of ubuntu-a South African word meaning we are interconnected and human through our relations with others.
