Storytelling and Book Signing with John Gilman, Footsoldier for Peace and Justice
"Once we die, all that remains are the rememberances of what we've done while we were here"
Because of this belief John Gilman felt compelled to write down his life story. This book offers accounts of a man who started his activism in high school; who is a highly decorated veteran of World War II; who proudly proclaimed his progressive beliefs in the face of constant harassment; and who has spent a lifetime defending those who have been unjustly persecuted. His book Foot Soldier for Peace and Justice is a candidly told story of one man's efforts to make a difference in the world.
Come hear the stories of one of our own peace activists, John Gilman, Sunday, February 21st from 3:00-5:00pm at the Friends Meeting House (3224 N Gordon Pl). Autographed books will be available for sale.

Fiction of Marja as City Was US Information War - For weeks, the U.S. public followed the biggest offensive of the Afghanistan War against what it was told was a "city of 80,000 people" as well as the logistical hub of the Taliban in that part of Helmand. ... It turns out, however, that the picture of Marja presented by military officials and obediently reported by major news media is one of the clearest and most dramatic pieces of misinformation of the entire war, apparently aimed at hyping the offensive as a historic turning point in the conflict.
