The Fall 2010 Education Series on the History of the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict sponsored by the Peregrine Forum and WNPJ will run on Thursday evenings 6:30-8:30pm and held at 122 State St Room 407, which is WNPJ's conference room. This is the building which houses Michelangelo's Coffee House on the first level a few doors east of the 122 entrance. Inside the 122 entrance is a small indoor mall and you must go up a short flight of steps and angle slightly to the right to get to the elevator. The dates for the classes are Oct 7. Oct 21, Nov 4, Nov 18, Dec 2, and Dec 16. Film screenings and additional discussions may be held on the alternate Thursdays of Sept 30, Oct 14, Oct 28, and Dec 10.
As seating for the class may be limited, prospective participants are encouraged to RSVP (see below).
The classes will cover the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict from the 1880s to the present according to the following outline:
I. Historic Palestine & the Early Zionist Movement Through World War I (1880s to 1919)
II. Mandate Palestine, Nazism, & the Holocaust of European Jewry (1920 to World War II)
III. The Creation of Israel: From the Biltmore Program to the 1948 War (1942-1949)
IV. The Arab-Israeli Conflict and the Cold War (1949-1973)
V. The Occupied Territories and the Rise of the Palestine Liberation Organization and the Likud Party (1974-1986)
VI. Intifadas, Radical Islam, and the "Peace Process" (1987-2010)
